Prakriti- The Environment society of PGGCG-11, Chd organized a 3 day Anti Cracker Awareness Campaign from 24th Oct to 26th Oct 2016. Various activities were held during the awareness campaign. On 24th Oct, Oath taking ceremony was organized wherein students took oath of not using crackers and protecting the environment by celebrating Diwali in an eco-friendly manner.On 25th Oct Poster making and Slogan writing competition on the theme Anti-cracker/ Air Pollution was held in which about 100 students participated . On 26th Oct, Poem and Essay Writing Competition on Air Pollution was held wherein 35 students participated. A rally of the students and the faculty was flagged off by the College Principal Prof Dr Anita Kaushal, Dean Dr. Rama Arora and Vice Principal Dr. Kanwar Iqbal. More than 200 students formed a human chain on the roadside to sensitize the citizens on eco-friendly Diwali and ill effects of crackers. They were carrying placards bearing Slogans “BURST INTO SMILES NOT FUMES INTO SKIES- HAVE A CRACKER FREE DIWALI”, “BURST YOUR EGO NOT CRACKER”, “THIS DIWALI ONLY DIYAS, NO FIRE WORKS”, “ CRACKERS ARE THE KNIVES WHICH WILL TAKE YOUR LIVES”. Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Principal appreciated the efforts of the Faculty members and applauded their constructive role for the betterment of the society. She also emphasized the importance of Eco Friendly Diwali in light of growing hazards of environmental pollution and its detrimental effects on human health. The Anti-Cracker campaign proved to be a great source of inspiration for all the students and faculty members as well as for public at large. SLOGAN WRITING:winners: Mansi, Farheen, Jeenat Aggarwal. POSTER MAKING:winners: Vanishka, Shivani Mor,Riya Singla In another event - Joy of Giving- a two day event also got to a sparkling start with students and staff donating generously in cash and kind. Students also set up stalls of eatables, games, Mehdi, nail art etc. The funds thus generated shall be donated for the noble cause of helping the underprivileged families. UN day was also celebrated.
