25-01-2017: National Voters Day was celebrated by the staff and students of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh today. Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college motivated the students to exercise their democratic right of casting the vote in an intelligent manner. It is the youth who are the architects of the country and its future, and it is their wise choice that can result in the formation of a capable, competent and conscious government, she stressed. She also encouraged them to motivate others in the society to cast their vote instead of enjoying the election day as a holiday.
Principal distributed voter identity cards to students registered as new voters. On this occasion a quiz was also conducted. The questions tested the knowledge of the students regarding various aspects of voting and voters. Posters made by the students were displayed to generate awareness on the significance of voting. The students took a pledge to cast their vote fearlessly and in a free and fair manner in the larger interest of the country and for strengthening the democratic fabric.
