7th Mar, 2017: One-day Interactive Session on the theme “Emerging Careers in 21st Century”

 
Regional Institute of English, Sector-32, in collaboration with P.G.Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh organised a One-day Interactive Session on the theme “Emerging Careers in 21st Century” under the able guidance of Principal, Prof. Anita Kaushal. Ms.JayantiGhose, Education and Career Counsellor, Mumbai was the key-speaker and the event was co-hosted by Mr. Sandeep Ghose.Dr. Rama Arora, Dean of the college and Mr.Kanwar Iqbal, Vice-Principal were also present on the occasion.
The inaugural address was delivered by Dr.VandanaLunyal, Director of RIE. She highlighted the importance of career counselling sessions, as they help the students in making appropriate career choices to excel in life.
 Ms. Ghose stressed that the basic objective of career counselling is to help students choose a career in tune with their skills. Mr. Sandeep Ghose emphasised reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Writing is “to express rather than to impress”. The speakers highlighted the need of personal brand-building, social skills and importance of digital literacy.
The session was attended by final year students of various streams such as arts, science, commerce and management of all government colleges of Chandigarh. It was an interactive, informative and interesting session wherein students were guided about pertinent career choices in keeping with the 21st Century.
The speakers concluded by saying “Be curious, don’t wait for your passions or your dreams to happen but make them work. The harder you work, the luckier you get”.
