An Awareness lecture on Vector Borne Diseases was organized by Community Hygiene and Public Health Society of Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Anita Kaushal. The speaker, Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Anti-Malaria Officer, Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh, sensitized the audience about the control of various diseases prevalent in the tri-city these days.

Vector-borne diseases are illnesses caused by pathogens and parasites in human population. Every year there are more than 1 billion cases and over 1 million deaths from vector-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis. About 200 students and faculty members attended the talk and the interactive session was enjoyed by the students.

A poster making competition was also held and prizes were given to the following winners:
