15th Mar, 2018: PGGCG-11 in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Center (NZCC) organised “OCTAVE-2018

 

PG Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Center (NZCC) organised “OCTAVE-2018”, an extravaganza of various dance forms of North-Eastern states. As the title OCTAVE suggeststhe event comprised the dance forms of eight North-Eastern states, viz., Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, Sikkim, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Manipur.

The event was inaugurated by Dr.SaubhagyaVardhan Brihaspati, Director NZCC, Patiala, Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal and Sh. Kanwar Iqbal Singh, Vice-Principal of the college. Welcoming the guests and performers on this occasion Prof. Anita Kaushal felt honoured to have been associated with the celebrations and performance of rich tradition and culture of north east India. She observed that these are the true reflections of the unity in diversity which has been existing as a glorious heritage of our nation.

The programme commenced with a skit based on the theme ‘Swachha Bharat’ by ‘Samvad Theatre Group’ in collaboration with NSS volunteers of the college. The artists presented dances that are performed on various occasions such as War dance of Nagaland, Bihu of Assam, Hozagiri of Tripura, Rikampada of Arunachal Pradesh, Cheraur of Mizoram, and Lai Haroba of Manipur.

The audience was enthralled by the scintillating and vibrant display of emotions of north eastern festivals.
