One day capacity building Workshop on “Knowledge Enhancement” (Sponsored by RUSA, Chandigarh Administration) on 29th March 2016 for faculty. 75 faculty members attended the workshop. The workshop was inaugurated by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal. Dr. Madhumita Bhattacharjee introduced the speaker, Mr. Manish Aggarwal with the participants who enlightened the participants about stress management. In the afternoon session Prof. Ghuman threw light on Research projects. The workshop was quite interactive and fruitful for the participants.
Session 1: Speaker Manish Aggarwal
Mr. Manish Aggarwal stressed upon the importance of happiness in our life and told that being happy should be our prime commitment with ourselves. He shown us video on national Anthem executed beautifully by children who can’t speak to disseminate a massage that patriotism have no language. His main focus of the lecture was to create story of our life. He said only we decide that what would be our future world, by doing actions in present. Mr. Manish told that if we are able to give solutions to other we can very well think about the solutions of our own problems. He told about the significance of clapping for others good actions it helps one to eliminate the jealousy, the main hindrance in one’s own development. He pointed out that we should also appreciate ourselves for our good deeds, the society will respect us only if we give respect to ourselves. He stressed upon the fact that purpose of teacher to take class should be focused on interest of student. Then he asked the faculty to write on paper that what people should speak about at the time of retirement, this activity again helped us to think about the qualities of best teacher. He also said the examination is not the criteria to judge a teacher's capability. Mr. Manish helped us to realize that we are our own source of energy and enlightenment. He also told that only we are responsible for our decisions and actions nobody else. Then he related this fact to saying that we reap what we sow. He also correlated attitude and gratitude. He also sensitized the audience about their abilities to do anything impossible in life.
Session 2: Speaker Prof. B.S. Ghuman
He laid stress on the utility of research project in the field of teaching. He explained various prerequisites for applying the research project. One can apply for minor or major research project. There are several agencies which provides funding for research. He emphasized the importance of research in teaching graduate and post graduate classes. The participants were made aware of the procedure required for hypothesis preparation of research project. He answered all the queries of the participants. On the whole the session was informative and successful.
