PGGCG-11 organised Six Days workshop on Research Methods

The Department of English and Centre for Research at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, sector 11, Chandigarh conducted a Week-Long Workshop on Research Methods from 21st August to 25th August 2023. The venues for the event were the Research Centre and Functional English Lab.
The Convenor of the Research Centre, Prof. Maninder Sidhu and the students were welcomed by Dr. Vasudha Ramaul. Prof. Sidhu introduced Dr. Meenu Gupta, the speaker for session 1. Dr. Meenu (Dept of English and Cultural Studies, Panjab University) enlightened the students about the fundamentals of research. Session 2 began at 1:30pm where Dr. Neeraj Kumar Singh (A.C. Joshi Library, Panjab University) familiarized the students with an essential component of research i.e. online research material and its free access.

Day 1
The workshop concluded with an enriching experience.
Day 2
The first session on Day 2 was conducted by Dr. Gurinder Kaur. She talked about the process of deciding a topic for research. The speaker for session 2 was Dr. Sandeep Sarang who is an expert in Documentation.
Day 3
Dr. Rajesh Jaiswal, USOL Panjab University trained the students about methodology. He talked about topics like Disability Studies, Gender, Marginalisation. Session 2 was conducted by Dr. Dipanker Sukul. He familiarized the students with theoretical framework of a research project.
Day 4
The first session on day 4 was conducted by Prof. Maninder Sidhu. Her talk was aimed at introducing students to various upcoming theories in literature. Dr. Sumati was the speaker for the second session. She introduced certain literary approaches as well as their application through literary examples.
Day 5
The last day of the workshop concluded with an interactive session between the recently enrolled research scholars at the Centre for Research and the students. It was aimed at giving the students a realistic perspective of the scholars and acquainted them with the problems that a researcher faces.
