Collaborations

Introduction

Committed to the vision of holistic development of students, the institution collaborates with various agencies and organisations for academic purposes. Students visit institutions like CSIO, Municipal Corporation, Meteorological Department etc. The volunteers of NSS units of the college and societies take community-centric initiatives in the adopted village Khudda jassu in collaboration with the elected body of the village. The students are offered internships in many agencies for hands on training to complement the theoretical aspects. The Blood Donation Society collaborates with PGIMER, Lions Club etc. for the noble cause. The Red Ribbon Club works in unison with Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society and Red Cross Society for organising awareness generation programmes on the issue.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MoUs)

The institution envisions holistic development of the students, and to achieve it, practical and hands-on training under capable and technical guidance of experts from related fields is essential. The college has signed MoUs with agencies of repute which provide a platform to the students to interact with specialists from the operational field, seek their guidance and develop a scientific temper. This also shapes their skills and increases their employability potential. Following MoUs have been signed by the college:

  1. Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIR-CSIO), Sec 30, Chandigarh

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central Scientific Instruments Organization, Sector 30 C, Chandigarh was signed on 22nd January, 2016. Our college has been adopted by (CSIR-CSIO) under Faculty Training and Motivation and adoption of school & colleges by CSIR Labs,, a scheme supported by Human Resource Development Group, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. The main objective of the scheme is to inculcate and promote science education at faculty and student level and nurture the most brilliant and gifted youth to take up science as career.

  1. ICMR Center of Innovation and Bio-Design (CIBioD), PGIMER, Chandigarh

College is pioneer in the city to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICMR Center of Innovation and Bio-Design (CIBioD), PGIMER, Chandigarh on 8th Feb, 2020.  CIBioD aims to promote innovation in medical sciences and instruments, by creating a conducive ecosystem with premier institutes in the region.

  1. Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED) was signed on 28th April 2022 to train students in entrepreneurial skills and to help them in their placement.

RCED would collaborate with the college in conducting programmes an Entrepreneurship Development sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, Directorate of Industries, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Government of India, National Skill Development Corporation, Tech Mahindra Foundation, NASSCOM Foundation, SJVN, PFC etc.

Further RCED will help in organising Entrepreneurial Awareness Camps, Skill Development Programmes, Faculty Development Programme (FDP) and setting up of an Incubation centre.

  1. Central Poultry Development Organisation, Northern Region, Chandigarh

College is pioneer in the city to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central Poultry Development Organisation (Northern Region) Chandigarh on 31st May, 2022.   CPDO (N/R) Chandigarh   has an objective to encourage and create new entrepreneurs and work on women empowerment as well as overall welfare of women. This MoU will ensure that more and more women are encouraged to take up poultry farming as well as ancillary work (hatching, marketing, poultry products, value adding and feed mill etc.).

  1. AV Financial Experts Network Pvt Ltd, Mumbai

Post Graduate Government college for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AV Financial Experts Network Pvt Ltd, unit 320. Champak Lal Udyog Bhavan, Near Telephone Exchange, Sion east Mumbai on 14.11.2022. The objective of this initiative is to create employment opportunities for educated youth in the Banking, Finance and Insurance sector through a customised training program encompassing product knowledge along with behavioural and selling skills which is expected to benefit fresh graduates, especially those belonging to economically weaker sections of society.

  1. Center for Cultural Resources & Training (CCRT)

Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Center for Cultural Resources & Training (CCRT), Union Ministry of Culture, GOI.

CCRT will work in close collaboration with the College for developing the certificate and diploma courses by sharing its resources in the form of cultural packages and publication along with expertise of its resource persons. Seminars, conferences and programme would be organized to provide practical training and an understanding and appreciation of the philosophy, aesthetics and beauty inherent in Indian art and culture. Under the Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme implemented by CCRT, scholarships will be given to the young talented students in different fields.

  1. Global Apiaries (India)

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 26th August, 2023 between the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh and Global Apiaries (India) for promoting entrepreneurial skill development, outcome-based trainings, placement, and related services among students. The objective of MoU is intended to enhance entrepreneurial mindsets and skills among the Under graduate and Post Graduate students by organizing various workshops, conduction of practical trainings on Entrepreneurship Development, to generate self-employment opportunities, to assist students in establishing various start-ups and most importantly to arrange the placement of trained students. The training and exposure provided to students through this association will build confidence and prepare the students to have a smooth transition from academic to working career.

NGOs

NGOs act as an extended arm of the government and act as enablers and facilitators of welfarist activities and generate awareness on pertinent issues.  Faculty and students of the college are actively involved in community-centric operations and associate with NGOs to venture into welfare measures. This collaboration with NGOs strengthens their initiatives and polishes their organisational and management skills. They also derive benefit in the form of a deeper insight of the societal concerns and augment their enterprise towards sensitization. Our students join hands with NGOs for awareness-generation drives and also in the form of financial contribution.

Internship

In the contemporary times, it is essential to complement the applicatory aspects with theoretical perspectives of any discipline for highlighting the scope and relevance of the context. Internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. Students of under-graduate and post-graduate courses of our college go for internships to industrial, research and professional institutions for hands-on training. This way they can have a precise know-how of and specific operational involvement in the practical performance.
