B.Sc, B.Sc (HONOURS) AND B.Sc (HONOURS) WITH RESEARCH

The undergraduate degree will have a flexible duration of either three or four years, with multiple exit options during this period. The table below outlines the various certifications a student can earn at different stages of their undergraduate study:

B.Sc (General) degree programme will be of six semesters (three years).

  • In the 1st semester, the student will be offered three subjects A, B and C. In addition, the student will offer one MDC, one SEC, and one VAC. English (compulsory) will be studied under AEC.
  • MDC should be such a subject which is (i) not one of the subjects offered by the student that is A, B or C, and (ii) not offered by the student at +2 level.
  • In the third semester, the student will select one subjects as Major and two as Minors.

 

B.Sc Honours programme will be of eight semesters (four years).

  • A student who secures 75% or more marks in aggregate till semester 6 (up to 3 year degree) shall be eligible for 4 YEAR DEGREE B.Sc HONOURS with research, on the condition that the institution is a PU approved Research Centre

MDC-MULTI-DISCIPLINARY/IDC-INTER-DISCIPLINARY COURSE (3 credits)

*Students are not allowed to choose or repeat courses (subjects) already undergone/studied at the higher secondary level (12th class). That is, MDC should be such a subject which is

(i) not one of the subjects offered by the student, say A, B or C, and

(ii) not studied by the student at +2 level.

AEC- ABILITY ENHANCEMENT COURSE-ENGLISH COMPULSORY (2 credits)

VAC- VALUE ADDED COURSE (2 credits)

SEC- SKILL ENHANCEMENT COURSE (3 credits)

The college will offer Discipline Specific (Template-I) and Multi-Disciplinary Course (Template II) for the students However, the following table is common to all the students for the first two semesters. From the 3rd Semester onwards, the student will have to choose either of the two templates: Template I or Template II

NOTES:

  1. In the first semester student will offered three different subjects A, B &
  2. At the end of second semester each student may choose any one of the two streams namely Single Major or Multi-Disciplinary. The student choosing Single Major stream is required to give his/her Major and Minor at end of the second semester.
  3. The student opting for Single Major must secure 50% credits of the total credits in the Major Subject and obtain 24 credits from the Minor Subject(s). To qualify for minor in a particular subject, the student must attain at least 12 credits in that subject(s).
  4. A student who secures 75% or more marks in aggregate till semester 6 (up to 3 year degree) shall be eligible for 4 YEAR DEGREE SC HONOURS with research, on the condition that the Institution is a PU approved Research Centre
  5. The candidate opting for Sc Honours with Research is required to secure 12 credits from research instead of three Major Core Papers.
  6. Language paper chosen as MIL-1 and MIL-2 should be in the same
  7. Once Major and Minor papers are chosen in 3rd semester, the same will continue as Major and Minor subject in the subsequent semesters.
