PGGCG-11 organises Seven Day NSS Camp on the theme “Empowering Youth in the Digital Era for Community Mental Wellness and National Unity.”

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, inaugurated their seven-day camp on December 22, 2025. The camp is centered around the theme, “Empowering Youth in the Digital Era for Community Mental Wellness and National Unity.”

The programme was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal, who addressed the volunteers and reflected on the evolution and objectives of NSS since its inception in 1969. She highlighted its mission to foster character, discipline, social responsibility, national integration, and a spirit of voluntary service among young citizens. Appreciating the enthusiasm of the volunteers, she underscored the pivotal role of NSS in nurturing socially responsible and committed youth leaders.

The Guest of Honour for the inaugural session, Prof. (Dr.) Jayanti Dutta, Programme Director at the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh, motivated students to translate knowledge into meaningful action for the betterment of society. She encouraged them to emerge as change-makers, problem solvers, and advocates of mental well-being within their communities. She also emphasized the responsible use of digital tools for spreading awareness, supporting mental health, promoting civic engagement, and strengthening national unity.

Approximately 250 NSS volunteers are participating in the camp, which will feature a wide range of activities including mental health awareness sessions, digital literacy programmes, cleanliness drives, interactive workshops, cybercrime awareness, leadership development, and community outreach initiatives at Khudda Jassu village. The camp aims to empower young volunteers to become responsible citizens dedicated to service, unity, and positive social transformation.
