74th Republic Day was celebrated in Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh today. Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college unfurled the National Tricolour. Ms. Monika Sikka, Vice-Principal, faculty members and students attended the ceremony.
The students of Music Vocal Department rendered Patriotic songs that made the atmosphere highly nationalistic. Speeches by the students invoked the spirit of nationalism amongst all.
Addressing the students, Principal, Prof. Anita Kaushal congratulated the students and staff on this auspicious occasion. She highlighted that the constitution of India is the longest written document that defines the responsibilities and powers of three pillars of democracy.
She advised the students that as we have inherited a free nation, with a world of opportunities, it becomes our duty to be the torch bearers of values of integrity, patriotism and understand the true sense of freedom. She cautioned that the youth of the nation should not fall prey to the vices like drugs, communal hatred, cyber crime etc. She encouraged the students to strive to become sensitive, global citizens and provide ethical and intellectual leadership in every sphere of human endeavour.
