77th Independence Day Celebration in PGGCG-11 Chandigarh

On August 15, 2023, the 77th Independence Day reverberated with celebrations at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh. The occasion marked the commemoration of 76 years of India’s freedom, embodying this year’s theme, “Nation First, Always First,” a vital facet of the overarching “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” Celebration. The flag-hoisting ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Anita Kaushal, the college’s Principal, along with Mr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, the Dean, Prof. Guneeta Chadha, the Vice-Principal, faculty members, and students.

Enriching the event, students from the Department of Music (Instrumental) showcased their talents through emotive renditions of patriotic melodies. Simultaneously, the Music (Vocal) department united voices in resonant medleys and harmonious group songs, all infused with an intense spirit of national pride. The students passionately shared their perspectives on freedom, interweaving narratives of unsung heroes’ bravery and sacrifices, vividly portraying valorous historical moments.

In her address, Prof. Anita Kaushal, the college’s Principal, highlighted the celebration as a homage to India’s thriving democracy, a day that pays tribute to the countless sacrifices of freedom fighters. She proudly underscored India’s journey to becoming a nearly 5 trillion-dollar economy over 77 years of independence, underlining India’s expanding global influence across diverse domains.

 

Prof. Kaushal motivated students to embrace their responsibilities earnestly, endeavoring to propel the democratic nation towards even greater heights of achievement. She urged them to contribute, regardless of scale, towards nurturing a vibrant and prosperous India that transcends biases of caste, gender, region, and religion.

In concurrence with the occasion, the NSS unit of the college commemorated “Meri Maati Mera Desh” by orchestrating a Tree Plantation Drive.
