Community Hygiene and Public Health society along with the Zoology departmentof Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh joined forces to host an informative lecture on Breast Cancer awareness on 24-08-2023. The focal point of the interactive discourse was ‘Early Detection, Save Life.’ Dr. Kanika Sharma, a distinguished Medical Oncologist from Max Hospital, Mohali, enlightened the students about the diverse symptoms and stages of Breast Cancer. She emphasized how early detection can pave the way for effective treatment and a wholesome life. The students engaged in a meaningful exchange with the expert, and their inquiries were aptly addressed.
Under the banner of ‘Prakriti-The Environment Society,’ Akshay Urja Diwas was commemorated through a series of competitions, including Slogan writing, Poster making, and Folder making. The theme centered on the ‘Impact of Akshay Urja on India.’ The esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Arulranjan P, IFS, Chief Executive Officer of CREST (Chandigarh Renewal Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society), underlined the significance of innovation and a multidisciplinary approach. He encouraged students to cultivate novel ideas and systematically channel them to yield constructive outcomes for societal betterment. Furthermore, he underscored the importance of adopting renewable energy sources.
In a parallel endeavor, ‘Kala Srijan-The Best out of Waste Society,’ curated an exhibition showcasing exquisite art pieces in the form of cards and bookmarks, all centered around the theme of Phulkari. The students showcased their inherent creativity and artistic prowess, presenting a captivating array of visual delights.
Commending the fervent efforts of the societies, Principal Prof. Anita Kaushal extended her appreciation and urged the students to fortify their imaginative capacities while actively participating in diverse events to promote awareness and foster holistic development.
