PRAKRITI – The Environment Society, in collaboration with NSS, organized an Earth Day Celebration on 22 April 2026 at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, in partnership with the Ministry of Earth Sciences and MY Bharat, Chandigarh.
The programme, held on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” commenced with a plantation drive, followed by an inspiring address by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal and an environmental pledge reaffirming the commitment to sustainable practices.
An awareness session on climate change and environmental conservation was conducted by Ms. Smriti Sharma, Information Officer, Environment Department, Chandigarh Administration, with participation of around 100 students and faculty members. A declamation contest provided students an opportunity to express their views on pressing environmental concerns.
A recycled-plastic bench was also presented under the Bisleri – Bottles for Change Programme, highlighting the importance of recycling and sustainable waste management.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sadhana Verma, Convenor, PRAKRITI, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility towards protecting our planet.
