A lecture cum workshop on “Social Entrepreneurship, Swachhta and Rural Engagement” was conducted by SESREC cell of Post Graduate Government College for Girls.Sector-11, Chandigarh in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The objective of the workshop was to inculcate the significance of rural entrepreneurship and sustainability among the students to achieve environmental, social and resiliency goals. Over 200 students participated in the interactive and informative session and shared their ideas in the energy improving, building resilience, to achieve de-carbonization target to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5OC, to meet the goals of the Paris agreement and to avoid catastrophic impacts of climate change.
Prof. (Dr) Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college was the chief guest. In her presidential address she shared the vision of SESREC (Social Entrepreneurship, Swachhata & Rural Engagement cell) and highlighted the schemes for segregation of waste at source, successful co-composting of food, fruit and green waste with a mechanism to mitigate carbon leakage in the campus and the adopted village of the college, Khuda Jassu.
