“PRAKRITI” – The Environment Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, celebrated Akshay Urja Diwas on 20th August 2025 with great zeal and impactful awareness-building activities. The event was sponsored by the Chandigarh Renewable Energy Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST), Chandigarh Administration.
Observed annually, Akshay Urja Diwas emphasizes the significance of renewable energy sources and promotes sustainable practices among the youth. To mark the occasion, the college hosted a series of inter-college competitions including T-Shirt Painting, Poster Making, and Just a Minute (JAM) sessions. The themes focused on renewable energy, green technology, and environmental conservation.
Students from different colleges across Chandigarh showcased their creativity and innovative thinking through vibrant artworks and meaningful messages. The JAM competition offered a dynamic platform for participants to express their views on energy conservation, solar power, and sustainable living with spontaneity and enthusiasm. The energy and talent of the participants made the event thought-provoking as well as inspiring.
Prof. (Dr.) Rama Arora, Principal of the college, congratulated the winners and lauded the participants for their efforts. In her address, she emphasized the urgent need to shift towards renewable energy sources for a sustainable future and urged the students to act as ambassadors of green energy by adopting eco-friendly practices in their everyday lives.
The celebration concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, followed by a vote of thanks extended to all participants, faculty members, and organizers, whose contributions ensured the resounding success of the event.
