JIGYASA – The Science Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector–11, Chandigarh, under the aegis of IQAC, celebrated National Science Day on 27 February 2026 by organizing inter-college competitions on the theme “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat.”
The event was sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology and Renewable Energy, Chandigarh Administration. The valedictory session and prize distribution ceremony were graced by the Chief Guest, Sh. Saurabh Kumar (IFS), Chief Conservator of Forests and Wildlife Warden, Chandigarh Administration. He was formally welcomed by the respected Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal.
In his address, Sh. Saurabh Kumar प्रेरित students to develop a scientific temperament and forward-looking vision. Emphasizing this year’s theme, he highlighted the pivotal role of women in achieving the goal of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. He also spoke about the “Wetland Mitra” initiative of the Ministry of Environment, which encourages the active involvement of students, staff, eco-clubs, and institutional societies in the protection and conservation of the Sukhna Wetland.
Around 104 students from various colleges actively participated in the competitions. Prizes were awarded to the winners in recognition of their outstanding performances.
