PGGCG-11 celebrates 79th Independence Day on the theme ‘Naya Bharat’

Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, proudly celebrated the 79th Independence Day on the theme ‘Naya Bharat’, reflecting the Government of India’s vision of transforming the nation into a developed country by 2047, the centenary of independence.

The celebrations began with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Tricolour by Prof. (Dr.) Rama Arora, Principal of the college, in the presence of faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students. The atmosphere was filled with patriotic fervor as students from the Department of Music (Instrumental) presented soulful patriotic tunes, while the Music (Vocal) students rendered stirring medleys and harmonious group songs that resonated with national pride. Adding further depth to the occasion, students also expressed their heartfelt views on freedom and shared their aspirations for the realization of Naya Bharat.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rama Arora paid homage to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, remarking that “our hearts swell with pride with this sacred reminder of their indomitable spirit.” Motivating the students, she reflected: “As we look ahead to India at 100, let us envision a nation that is not only powerful but also compassionate, a nation where innovation walks hand in hand with inclusion, and where no one is left behind.”

She further emphasized that every small step taken in the right direction contributes to the strength of the Tricolour, which was proudly unfurled that morning. Concluding her address, she expressed her hope that the National Flag will always soar high, symbolizing the country’s aspirations, unity, and unbreakable spirit.
