Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh, celebrated World Ozone Day through an environmental awareness drive organised by GLOBUS, the student society of the Department of Geography, under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal and mentorship of Mr. Sanjay, Faculty Member, Department of Geography.
Based on the theme “Global Actions for a Cooler Planet,” the campaign titled “AC Off, Earth On” promoted responsible energy consumption and sustainable practices across the campus. GLOBUS members visited various departments with hand-painted posters, sensitising students and faculty about ozone layer depletion, harmful UV radiation, and the importance of conserving energy.
Faculty members actively supported the initiative by switching off air conditioners when not required, turning the campaign into a collective effort for environmental responsibility.
The campaign concluded with an interaction with the Principal, who appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and teamwork and emphasised that small, sustained actions can make a meaningful contribution towards protecting the environment and building a sustainable future.
