PGGCG-11 organised a Tree Plantation Drive

A Tree Plantation Drive was organised by the Campus Beautification and Landscaping Committee, in collaboration with PRAKRITI – The Environment Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, on 02 August 2025.

The event was graced by Mr. Prem Garg, Chartered Accountant and Founder of My Tree Foundation, who led the initiative with remarkable enthusiasm and commitment to environmental sustainability. He generously donated sandalwood saplings, which were planted across the college campus. Highlighting the mission of My Tree Foundation, Mr. Garg shared that the organisation aims to plant sandalwood and other high-value trees across Chandigarh and Punjab. He encouraged faculty and students to actively engage in tree plantation and take personal responsibility for nurturing them.

The initiative sought to enhance greenery and promote a sustainable environment, aligning with the college’s continuous efforts to improve both the aesthetic appeal and ecological health of the campus. The planting of sandalwood, valued for its ecological and economic significance, represented a meaningful step toward long-term environmental stewardship. Faculty members, students, and staff participated with great zeal, collectively pledging to care for the saplings and maintain a clean, green campus.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rama Arora commended the efforts of the Campus Beautification and Landscaping Committee and PRAKRITI – The Environment Society, expressing gratitude to Mr. Prem Garg for his invaluable contribution. She emphasised that such collaborations not only raise environmental awareness but also inspire the younger generation to adopt responsible ecological practices.
