PGGCG-11 organized 67th Annual Prize Distribution Function

The 67th Annual Prize Distribution Function of Post-Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, was celebrated on March 27, 2025, with great enthusiasm. The event was graced by Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Hon’ble Secretary Education, Chandigarh Administration, and a distinguished alumna of the college, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Principal, and Dean, followed by a soulful invocation of Goddess Saraswati by the students. Amidst resounding applause, more than 600 trophies and prizes were conferred upon meritorious students for their outstanding achievements in academics, sports, and extra-curricular activities.

In her address, Principal Prof. Anita Kaushal presented the College Annual Report, highlighting the students’ remarkable accomplishments at the University, Inter-University, State, National, and International levels. She also acknowledged the faculty’s significant contributions as members of Panjab University’s Academic Bodies and their research endeavors. The Principal proudly shared the college’s achievements in environmental conservation, sustainable development, and cleanliness, which have earned it national and international recognition. Additionally, the institution has been honored for its initiatives in Tree Plantation, the Eat Right Campus movement, Cyber security awareness, and Drug De-addiction campaigns. Notably, the college has secured the Overall Trophy for the eleventh consecutive year at the Panjab University Zonal Youth & Heritage Festival. It has also been granted a prestigious Four-Star status by the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and was recognized as the Best Institute (Senior Wing) for NCC Activities.

Chief Guest Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, extended her heartfelt congratulations to the awardees and presented them with prizes. Reflecting on her own time as a student at the college, she praised its continued excellence and the dedication of its faculty. She shared her success mantra, the “Three P’s”—Passion, Perseverance, and Pursuit of Excellence—emphasizing that true recognition comes through quality work. She further highlighted that while success is essential, it is equally important to be a person of value.

The event concluded on a celebratory note, as around 600 students were honored for their exceptional performances across various domains, reinforcing the institution’s legacy of academic and co-curricular brilliance.

 

  • 19 students were awarded the College Colour in sports and 20 in extra-curricular activities.
  • 05 students were awarded the Roll of Honour in sports, 11 students were awarded Roll of Honour in NCC Army Wing and 36 students were awarded the Roll of Honour for extra-curricular
  • Deepika Kumari was adjudged as the Best NCC Cadet Air Wing.
  • SUO Ayushi Dogra was adjudged as the Best NCC Cadet Army Wing.
  • Toshinder Kaur was awarded as the Best volunteer of NSS.
  • Tania Yadav was awarded P. Dutta Award for Honesty.
  • Rainey Sharma was awarded the Nirmal Vasudeva Scholarship
  • Vaishali was awarded C. Bhatia Award for being the Best student in Physics.
  • Aayushi was awarded Sharan Makkar Memorial Award for being the outstanding student in Punjabi literature.
  • Priyanka was awarded Harjinder Singh Scholarship.
  • Diksha Singh was awarded Sardarni Devinder Kaur Scholarship.
  • Mehak Kapoor was awarded Pushpa Verma Scholarship and a medal for standing 1st in M.A-II in P.U. and her performance in Youth Festivals.
  • Nisha got Pushpa Verma Scholarship and a medal for her performance in Academics and Youth Festivals.
  • Palak Middha was awarded Dharam Rattan Scholarship
  • Arshleen Kaur and Neha were awarded Gopal Das Garg Memorial Scholarship for their performance in Music Instrumental and Music Vocal respectively.
  • Manisha, Pinki, Arti and Arshpreet Kaur were awarded Prabha Kapila Scholarship.
  • Manraj Kaur was awarded Gursharan Singh Scholarship for excelling in Punjabi language and literature.
  • Kanchan was awarded Hardev Singh Ziladar Memorial Scholarship for excelling in Punjabi subject.
  • Preeti and Amisha were awarded Raj Kumar Sharma memorial award for academic excellence in PG Public Administration.
  • Tanu was awarded R.S. Chopra memorial award for best student in PG Chemistry.
  • Neha was awarded M.M.Chaudhary memorial scholarship for Chemistry.
  • Paulami Mazumdar, Bhavseerat Kang were awarded Dalip Singh and Sardarni Harbans Kaur memorial award for best PG student in Fine Arts.
  • Kirti Naidu of BA-III was declared the All Round Best Student of the college at the Under-graduate level.
  • Geetanjali of M.Sc-II (Zoology) was declared the All Round Best Student of the college at the Post-graduate level.

 

             The all round best students were also given the award instituted by Mr. B.S. Ojha IAS (Retd.) in memory of Mrs. Pushpa  Ojha, former Principal of this college.
