Prakriti – The Environment Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh organized a two-day Anti–Cracker Awareness Campaign on 18.10.2025 with the aim of spreading awareness about the harmful effects of firecrackers and promoting the celebration of a green and pollution-free Diwali.
The campaign included a series of interactive and creative activities designed to engage students in meaningful discussions and actions towards environmental sustainability.
On the first day a Diya Decoration Competition was held, where students showcased their artistic talent and creativity by designing beautiful, eco-friendly diyas using natural and waste materials. The competition encouraged students to embrace traditional and sustainable means of celebrating Diwali.
On the second a Pledge “Say No to Crackers” was administered by Principal Prof. Rama Arora to all students and faculty members. Following the pledge, students presented a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak highlighting the environmental and health hazards caused by firecrackers. The performance effectively conveyed the message of choosing sustainability over pollution.
An Exhibition of Decorated Diyas and Recycled Plastic Items was also organized, showcasing the innovative ideas of students in reusing waste materials to create useful and decorative items. The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments. Their creativity, dedication, and awareness reflected a strong sense of environmental responsibility and collective commitment toward a cleaner and greener planet.
The event concluded with an Anti–Cracker Rally, where students raised slogans and carried placards promoting an eco-friendly Diwali. Principal Prof. Rama Arora appreciated the sincere efforts made by Prakriti – The Environment Society for organizing such an impactful campaign and emphasized the importance of celebrating festivals in an environmentally responsible manner.
