Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, signed an agreement (MoU) with Gyan Setu Think Tank, Panjab University, Chandigarh, on February 7, 2025. The event also featured a seminar on “Building a Cyber-Resilient Society: Role of Women in Cyber Awareness and Defence.”
Several distinguished guests attended, including Lt. Gen (Dr) KJ Singh, former Western Army Commander and Convener of Gyan Setu Think Tank, keynote speaker Lt. Gen (Dr) R S Panwar, Col. Harkamal Sidhu, along with faculty members, students, and decorated members of the armed forces.
Through this collaboration, Gyan Setu Think Tank will support the college by sharing resources, conducting lectures, seminars, and workshops, and encouraging discussions on various topics. The goal is to create an innovative platform that enhances knowledge exchange for both faculty and students.
Principal Prof. Dr. Anita Kaushal praised this partnership, expressing hope that it would provide new opportunities for students. She stressed the importance of cyber security in today’s digital world, pointing out both its advantages and risks.
Lt. Gen (Dr) KJ Singh spoke about cybercrime and highlighted the vital role women can play in this field, noting their strong intellectual and intuitive abilities. Keynote speaker Lt. Gen (Dr) R S Panwar discussed different cyber threats and defense strategies, encouraging more women to enter the cybersecurity profession.
Col. Harkamal Sidhu emphasized the need to raise awareness and build a resilient society against cyber threats. Dr. Ritu Sekhri from the Psychology Department shared the cybercrime helpline number, urging students to report incidents without hesitation. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ambuj Sharma.
