The Department of English, Post Graduate Government College for Girls sector 11 Chandigarh, in collaboration with NOSTALGIA (alumni association of the college) organised a Panel Discussion, under the aegis of IQAC, on September 02, 2023 in the conference room. The discussion was conducted under the title “Reflections on Teaching English Literature”. The interaction began at 11:30 am that lasted for an hour and was followed by high tea. The guests for the event were cordially welcomed by Prof. Maninder Sidhu, Head of the Department of English. Among the former faculty members were Mrs. Hemprabha Sood , Mrs. Jasbir Kaur, Mrs. Satwant Grewal, Mrs. Gurmeet Malik, Mrs. Usha Prashar, Mrs.Iqbal Judge, Mrs. Shashi Malik, Mrs. Neelkamal Puri and many other veterans of the field. The discussion was moderated by Mrs. Neelkamal Puri who served as a bridge between the present faculty members and the invitees. Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college also joined the interaction. The guests reflected on their experiences of being an English teacher. The nostalgic moment revived a lot of memories on this reminiscent visit. They also shared their ideas on relevance of English Literature and made the interaction an intellectual treat. On this occassion, Prof. Maninder Sidhu, presented her recently published book titled “Nayantara Sahgal: A Century of Political Insight”, to the Department of English. The event successfully concluded with a positive note of carrying on this tradition and making it an annual affair.
