The Cultural Society of Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh in collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations organised a Vocal Recital on 30-10-2019. Shri Kashish Mittal, a renowned artist of Agra gharaana presented the recital on the occasion. Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college inaugurated the function and welcomed the exponent and the accompanists. She observed that the rendition will serve as a guiding force for the music lovers and students of Music Department. It is noteworthy that the college has post graduate departments in Music Vocal, Music Instrumental and Dance, and a research centre approved by the Panjab University for guiding doctorate scholars. Mr. Kanwar Iqbal, Dean of the college and Convener of the Cultural Society, Ms. Nalini Singhal, Regional Director, ICCR and Pandit Yashpal Sagun Piya, an eminent musician and other dignitaries from music faculty were also present on the occasion.

Kashish Mittal began the concert with raga gurjari todi followed by a Madhya lay bandish and taraana in raag shudhh saarang. He mesmerised the audience with his soothing aalaap electrifying taans, taaiyaari and the authentic improvisation style of Agra gharaana. He was accompanied by Shri Jaydev on tabla, Sh. Manish Kumar on harmonium and Ms. Sonalika Verma and Ms. Nishu Sharma on taanpura.
