The Post-Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh hosted its 66th Annual Athletic Meet. The event commenced with the inauguration by the Principal, Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal, who hoisted the flag and took the salute from the students’ marching contingents. The torch was lit by students who had excelled in various national, state, and inter-university championships in sports events during the academic session. The athletes pledged to compete with a sense of sportsmanship.
During the closing ceremony, Sh. Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest. He inaugurated a new Research Centre equipped with the latest ICT infrastructure, which will cater to the academic needs of research scholars. The college now has five Research Centres for the guidance of doctoral research. The Principal read the College Sports Report and highlighted the students’ glorious achievements at national and international levels. The students of the Dance Department presented a Rajasthani dance, Chirmi, which has won several accolades in various festivals. They also performed a patriotic dance on the song “Desh Mera Rangeela”. The students demonstrated their self-defense skills in Martial Arts.
Sh. Dharam Pal, IAS, congratulated the winners and appreciated the faculty and students for their persistent and untiring efforts that made the achievements in sports possible at various levels. He stressed that the lessons learnt in the playing field become the building blocks of success in life. He motivated the students to excel in their field of choice and bring laurels to the institution and the country.
