“PRAKRITI” The Environment Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh in collaboration with NSS organized an Awareness Campaign on safe, pollution free and cracker-free DIWALI on 24-10-2019. A series of activities were organized on the occasion.
About 25 students of PRAKRITI and NSS presented two Nukkad nataks depicting hazards of bursting crackers, the effect of crackers on old people and children, increase in the noise-pollution and air-pollution. The aim was to sensitize the students not to burst crackers, but light diyas and observe a green and eco-friendly Diwali.
Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college administered pledge to the faculty members, students and the non-teaching staff to protect the environment by not bursting crackers and further spread this message to one and all. She emphasized the importance of celebrating on Eco-friendly Deepawali and thereby reducing air and noise pollution.
On this occasion, a Human Chain was formed and a rally of about 100 students and 15 faculty members was also organized. The rally was flagged off by Principal Prof. Anita Kaushal, Dean Mr. Kanwar Iqbal and Vice Principal Dr. Anita Khosla. The objective of the rally was to sensitize the community on the hazards of air-pollution and noise-pollution and make them aware of the significance of environment conservation.
