The Department of Philosophy at Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh organized an annual Inter-College Philosophy Fest called Juvenescere on March 6, 2023, with the theme “Are we living in Matrix?” The fest aimed to decipher the codes of the Matrix and determine whether we live a computerized life or a conscious one. Six colleges from Chandigarh participated in nine competitions with a total of 200 students competing. The event started with a presidential address and welcome by the presidents of the Philosophical Society, followed by a debate competition moderated by Sudiksha and Noreen of BA-2. The fest also included a poetry recitation and writing competition, group and solo singing competition, poster making and photography competition, and a solo and group dance competition.
William Shakespeare once said, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men merely players.” The auditorium was filled with players watching the world unfold before their eyes. Each performance was met with thunderous applause and appreciation, as the audience was left spellbound. The day was filled with several guest performances that stole the show, including a stunning Manipuri dance, a lively Natti dance, and a soulful Manipuri song sung by North-Indian students. These performances were the highlights of the day, leaving an indelible mark on our memories.
The chief guest of the day was Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal, was given standing ovation for her contribution to the growth and success of the College. She addressed the students by appreciating their creative participation, zeal and applauded the students for choosing a unique topic with a philosophical approach. She felicitated the winners on the occasion.
The dean of the college, Mr. Ajay Sharma, the vice-principal, Mrs. Monika Sikka, and many faculty members of the college also congratulated the students and faculty.
