Memorandum of Understanding

Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh crossed another milestone in academic and professional brilliance by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with ICMR Center of Innovation and Bio-design (CIRioD) on 8-02-2020. The memorandum was signed between Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college and Dr. Varinder Garg, M.D., OSD to Union Health Minister-President PGIMER, Chandigarh. The college is the first government institution of the city to have signed a memorandum with an agency as prestigious as CIRioD.

CIBioD aims to promote innovation in medical devices and instruments by creating a conducive eco-system with the involvement of the students and faculty of PGGCG-11, Chandigarh. The faculty of sciences and computer applications will primarily collaborate in innovation and research. The College Innovation Council established under the aegis of MHRD, Govt. of India which has already been given a three-star status will be spearheading the initiatives.

The MoU will serve the pertinent purpose with the following objectives:

  • Recognizing the importance of R&D, innovation and training in the areas related to medical devices, instruments, affordable health-care, bio-design and other allied areas; and facilitate innovation and deployment of solutions.
  • Appreciating the need for integrating the reservoir of highly qualified manpower in the collaborating institutes to foster relationship between academia, students and practitioners.
  • To amalgamate the efforts by pooling the expertise and resources and to form a nucleus for promoting research and development, and training by exploiting the unique expertise, intellectual and infrastructural capabilities of both the parties.

Prof. Pardeep Singh Walia and Dr. Vishal Sharma will be the college coordinators and members of the joint committee for this endeavor.

Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college motivated the faculty and students to make best use of this initiative which can provide them a unique opportunity to excel in research; and make an indelible mark through their innovative potential.
