PGGCG- 11 celebrated Anti-Ragging awareness week 2024

Under the able guidance of madam Principal Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal, Post Graduate Government College for Girls (P.G.G.C.G) – 11, Chandigarh, observed Anti-Ragging Awareness Week from August 12th to August 18th, 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of ragging and promote a safer, more inclusive campus environment. The week commenced with an Anti-Ragging Awareness Talk by Dr. Ritu Sekri, Assistant Professor of Psychology at P.G.G.C.G-11, on August 12th. Dr. Ritu educated around 90 students on the harmful effects of ragging, explaining its various forms and emphasizing its status as a serious offense and human rights violation. She shared real-life cases illustrating the psychological trauma and legal consequences associated with ragging, urging students to foster empathy and create a supportive atmosphere.
On August 14th, videos from the U.G.C Anti-Ragging Portal were screened, followed by discussions that deepened students’ understanding of the severe consequences of ragging and the importance of anti-ragging laws in India. Additionally, on August 16th, a poster-making and slogan-writing competition was held under UGC’s #YaARIYouthAgainstRagging Contest, drawing participation from nearly 50 students. Winners were announced on August 17th. Overall, the week’s activities significantly contributed to raising awareness about anti-ragging laws and empowering students to stand against ragging, thereby reinforcing a safe and respectful college environment.
