The 69th Annual Athletic Meet of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, commenced on 24 February 2026 with great excitement and grandeur. The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal, who unfurled the college flag and took the salute from the vibrant and disciplined marching contingents representing various streams. The ceremonial torch was lit by students who had distinguished themselves at International, National, State, and Inter-University sports competitions during the academic session. The athletes then took an oath, pledging to compete with true sportsmanship and integrity.
The Closing Ceremony was graced by Ms. Radhika Singh, HCS, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, as the Chief Guest. Welcoming her, Principal Prof. Anita Kaushal expressed that her presence would serve as a source of inspiration for the budding athletes. While presenting the College Sports Report, she highlighted the institution’s remarkable achievements at national and international sporting platforms.
The event was further enlivened by cultural and awareness performances. Students of the Dance Department presented the vibrant folk dance Luddi, which has earned accolades across the country. Yoga demonstrations by students promoted the importance of physical fitness and well-being, while volunteers of the VADA Club staged a powerful street play to raise awareness about the menace of drug addiction.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Radhika Singh, an esteemed alumna of the college, congratulated the winners and applauded the dedication and hard work of both students and faculty. Fondly recalling her time at the institution and appreciating its continued progress, she encouraged students to pursue excellence, emphasizing that “nothing shapes character as sports does.” She inspired the students to excel in their chosen fields and bring pride and honour to both the institution and the nation.
