Community Hygiene & Public Health Society in collaboration with NSS unit of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh under the aegis of IQAC organized a lecture cum interactive session by Dr. Priya Dwivedi, Consultant, Oncology, Shalby Multi-Speciality Hospitals, Mohali. The event marked the celebration of World Cancer Day on 4th Feb. 2026. Dr. Priya talked in detail about diagnosis of cancer and treatment of the disease. She highlighted the role of processed food in increasing cancer. The importance of screening in early detection of the cancer was discussed. Nearly 100 undergraduate students and NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically and interacted with the doctor. The lecture was followed by a pledge taken by the students to spread awareness about cancer in every possible way.
Principal of the college Prof (Dr.) Anita Kaushal appreciated the effort of faculty members in organizing such an informative talk. She emphasized the need for timely screening for early and effective treatment of cancer.
