The VADA Club of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh celebrated the commencement of the 5th year of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) on 78th Independence Day with various activities. Carrying the pride of our national flag, they took out a flag march while shouting slogans to keep India Drug Free on 6th August 2024.
Following the call of Department of Social Justice & Empowerment to organise a country-wide mass pledge against Drugs on 12 August 2024, the VADA Club of PGGCG 11 organized Pledge taking by students under the theme of “Viksit Bharat ka Mantra, Bharat Ho Nashe se Swatantra” on 12th August 2024. Approx. 500 students took the pledge to do everything possible to the best of their ability to make our City Beautiful and country drug-free.
Further in response to organise various social and cultural activities in educational institutions, a sapling of Plumeria was planted by Ms. Prabhjot Kaur, the Nodal Officer of Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration in the college campus. She was accompanied by the faculty and students members of VADA Club. The plant was named as VADA Plant by the volunteers, and is dedicated to the greater cause of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The VADA Club student volunteers took the oath to take care of this plant till it grows into a tree. An orientation program for the new volunteers was also organized to make them familiar with the activities and role of VADA clubs in Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. A presentation of the previous year activities was shown to the new enrolled students and the guide map of the activities to be organized throughout the year was shared. Ms. Prabhjot Kaur, graced the event and apprised the volunteers with a brief outline of how this mission works and how this has become a huge success. 150 students attended the orientation. Students of new classes were made aware of the mandate of the VADA Club and encouraged to participate in the upcoming events of the club. The convenor of VADA Club Dr Neelam Rathee thanked the participants for their active involvement.
Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college emphasized that such campaigns are of great significance to save the youth from the drug abuse and a reminder of the importance of freedom in our lives. Madam Principal also applauded the efforts of students and faculty towards this noble cause, and encouraged to keep the good work going throughout the session.
