PGGCG-11, Chandigarh organized the Nineth Lecture of the seminar series “Dialogue” on the topic “Environmental Ethics: A Jain Perspective”

The Department of Philosophy, PGGCG-11, Chandigarh, organized the ninth lecture of the seminar series “Dialogue”on the topic “Environmental Ethics: A Jain Perspective” at the College Campus on 29-01-2024. A total of sixty five students participated in the lecture.

 

The speaker of the nineth lecture was Ms. Anita Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy from Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla.

 

The speaker comprehensively shared her ideas on environmental ethics. She also underlined the significant question how we should value it, as it is a field of study that seeks to understand human’s moral obligations to protect and preserve the environment. She invoked the philosophy of Jainism particularly the five Maha-vratas (great vows) in protecting the environment.

 

The session was chaired by Ananya Rawat of BA I Year.
