PGGCG-11 Organized a Workshop on Personality Development & Grooming

Training and Placement Cell of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh in collaboration with Department of Commerce and Computer Applications organized Personality Development Programme on August 12, 2024 in association with Right Side Story (Training Partner of Proctor and Gamble). The topic of the Personality Development Programme was Be Your Own Boss (BYOB).

The primary objective of the programme was to shed light on feminine health and hygienepractices while concurrently emphasizing the significance of personality development amongyoung girls. By addressing these crucial aspects, the programme aimed to empower femaleparticipants with knowledge and skills essential for their holistic well-being and personalgrowth. This programme aimed to demonstrate the importance of maintaining good personal hygiene and illustrate the importance of comprehensive cleaning to maintain a good health and a better personality in a certain society. Personal hygiene is important for many reasons, for instance, to have a better personality, a good health, for social reasons and for psychological issues.

The Speaker educated the students about the biological process of menstruation and how to manage it in a more hygienic way. During the programme, the students were told about the science behindmenstruation and the myths surrounding it.The programme included interactive sessions where students actively engaged in discussions,shared their experiences and sought guidance from the speaker

Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal applauded the efforts put in by the placement cell and motivated them to organize such type of events to promote women’s health, empowerment andsocietal progress.The programme not only fostered awareness but also inspired confidence and self-improvement among the students, contributing to their overall holistic growth and well-being.

PGGCG-11 Organised “Har Ghar Tiranga” Rally with NSS volunteers

The NSS volunteers of Post Graduate Government College for Girls 11, Chandigarh, under the guidance of Madam Principal Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal participated in #Har #Ghar #Tiranga Rally with NSS Program Officer Ms. Harpreet Kaur. The event commenced at 8:00 AM on 12-08-2024 from Government Home Science College, Sector 10 and proceeded to Urban Park, Sector 17, Chandigarh

The rally aimed to promote national pride and unity through the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, encouraging citizens to display the national flag prominently. Volunteers carried flags and banners that showcased their patriotic spirit. The march witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and local community.

The march concluded at Urban Park, Sector 17, where a brief program was held with a performance of a group song and a traditional dance, to commemorate the event and highlight its significance in fostering national pride.

The event was well-received, demonstrating the students’ commitment to national values and community engagement. The event was concluded by the National Anthem sung by all the volunteers.

PGGCG-11: The NSS volunteers performed a Nukkad Natak on the theme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”

The NSS volunteers of Post Graduate Government College for Girls , Sector 11 performed a NUKKAD NATAK on the theme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” on 12-08-2024. The Nukkad Natak aimed to make people aware about the importance of girls thereby highlighting the necessity of educating girl child in today’s world. The biggest objective was to discourage the people against female foeticide and infanticide.

The NSS Volunteers were very enthusiastic throughout. The street play was enjoyed by the audience that gathered around including the students , teachers and faculty.The event was very well received as the volunteers were successful in influencing the audience. Madam Principal Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal applauded the efforts of the students and the Programme Officer Dr Salil Sharma in making this event a success.

PGGCG-11: The Red Ribbon Club and NSS volunteers participated in State Level Cyclothon organized by Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society

The Red Ribbon Club and NSS volunteers of the college under the able guidance of Madam Principal Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal participated in State Level Cyclothon organized by Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society on 11-8-24. A Cyclothon rally was organized with the primary goal of raising awareness about HIV\AIDS. The event aimed to educate the public on the importance of HIV prevention, testing and treatment. Our students actively participated in this significant event, demonstrating their commitment to social causes and public health. The rally began at Sukhna Lake and traversed through key areas of the city, attracting a large number of participants and spectators. Our Student’s involvement not only contributed to the event’s success but also underscore their dedication to community service and advocacy. Overall, the Cyclothon rally served as an effective platform for spreading crucial information and promoting proactive health measures among the public.

PGGCG-11 Organised a Cultural Event for TEEJ Celebration

Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector- 11, Chandigarh marked the celebration of TEEJ on 09.08.2024. The Department of Punjabi and PG Department of Dance organised a Cultural Extravaganza. The students and Faculty of the College celebrated the festive occasion with fervor and gaiety. The students attired in traditional costumes sang folk songs and danced with elation to the tunes of Dhol. The students also put up stalls of Mehndi wherein they decorated their hands with henna. They also enjoyed the swings hung on the occasion to celebrate the ongoing Sawan.

Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college was also a part of the celebration and blessed the students with happy, healthy and Joyful life. She observed that the College has always promoted the rich culture and traditions of Indian society. She encouraged the students to follow the values enshrined in the National ethos of the country and preserve the glory of the Nation.

PGGCG-11 in collaboration with NSS and NCC students celebrated the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign

The “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign is a nationwide initiative that encourages every citizen to proudly display the Indian national flag, the Tiranga, at their homes. This movement aims to instill a deep sense of patriotism and unity among the people of India, reminding us of the sacrifices and struggles of our freedom fighters and the values enshrined in our Constitution.
Post Graduate Government College for Girls Sector-11 Chandigarh in collaboration with NSS and NCC students celebrated the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor on 06-08-2024. This initiative aimed to instill a deep sense of national pride and unity among the students and the community.
The celebration featured a variety of engaging events, including slogan writing, poetry recitation, singing, declamation, poster making and Flag March. These activities provided a platform for students to express their creativity and patriotism, showcasing their love for the nation and the values represented by the Indian tricolor .
This celebration was a testament to the collective efforts of the college, NSS, and NCC students in promoting national pride and unity. Principal of the college Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal emphasized that such campaigns are a reminder of the importance of the Tiranga in our lives and the values it represents.

PGGCG-11 NCC Army Wing celebrated 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas

At Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh, the NCC Army Wing cadets under the leadership of Madam Principal Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal commemorated Kargil Diwas with a series of moving and energetic performances on 26-07-2024. The event began with a compelling skit that vividly portrayed the heroism and sacrifices of the soldiers during the Kargil War. This was followed by emotive poem recitations that reflected the deep respect and gratitude for the nation’s defenders. Cadets also delivered impactful speeches that underscored the significance of Kargil Diwas and celebrated the valor of the armed forces. The celebration concluded with a spirited patriotic dance, which captivated the audience and evoked a strong sense of national pride. Through these performances, the cadets paid a heartfelt tribute to the bravery of India’s soldiers and reinforced the spirit of patriotism.

PGGCG-11 Organizes Orientation Program (2024-25) for New Students

An Orientation Programme for first-year undergraduate students across various disciplines was organised in the Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, on 24-07-2024. The primary goal of this orientation was to acquaint the students with the institution’s existing practices and regulations. Prof. (Dr) Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college, warmly welcomed the students and showcased the college’s remarkable achievements in academics and extracurricular activities. She apprised the students regarding various facilities and resources available to them on campus.

Panjab University has implemented The National Education Policy (NEP-2020) from the current session. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to transform the educational landscape of the country. It is designed to address the changing needs of the 21st century and make India a global knowledge superpower. During the orientation program the students were apprised about the subject combinations and the newly introduced courses viz., Multi Disciplinary Courses (MDC), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC), Value Added Courses (VAC).

The students received comprehensive guidance on several crucial aspects, including fee concession, bus-pass facilities, library resources, opportunities in NSS and NCC, available scholarships, subject change policies, the role of the placement cell, and the essential Do’s and Don’ts to be observed within the college premises. Additionally, they were informed about the mandatory lecture attendance requirement of 75% in all subjects and the significance of the Mid-semester Examination.

The students were introduced to the various societies operating within the college, each dedicated to organizing community-centric and sensitization activities. These societies focus on diverse areas such as Traffic Awareness and Road Safety, Preservation and Protection of Heritage, AIDS Awareness, Community Hygiene and Sanitation, Drug De-addiction, Gender Equity, Best from Waste, and Environment Awareness.

The ultimate aim of these societies is to foster the holistic development of students by actively involving them in both on-campus and off-campus initiatives. Students were also introduced with the in-charges of college-committees and apprised of the room numbers where they will be available.

PGGCG-11 celebrated 10th International Yoga Day 2024

The NSS and NCC units of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh, celebrated 10th International YogaDay by organising a vibrant and enlightening event under the guidance of Principal Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal. The celebration aimed to promote the importance of yoga in maintaining physical, mental, and spiritual well-being among students and faculty.
The event commenced with a series of yoga sessions focusing on various asanas, pranayama techniques, and meditation practices. These sessions aimed to educate students about the profound benefits of yoga in managing stress, improving flexibility, and enhancing overall health.
Students and faculty enthusiastically participated in the yoga sessions, demonstrating their commitment to adopting yoga as an integral part of their daily routine.
NSS Program Officer, Dr. Ritu Sekhri and NCC Caretaker Ms Harpreet Kaur emphasized the importance of yoga for women, particularly in building their psychological and emotional strength.
Principal Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal appreciated the college’s dedication to promoting holistic education and wellness through initiatives like yoga. She highlighted the role of yoga in fostering a harmonious balance between academic excellence and personal well-being.
The event concluded with a pledge to incorporate yoga into daily life, ensuring a continued commitment to health and wellness.

PGGCG-11 organised Annual Art Exhibition

Kala-Srijan’, the Creative Hand Society of the P.G Department of Fine Arts of PG Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, hosted its Annual Art Exhibition 18.4.2024. The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Tirthankar Bhattacharya, Chairperson, Department of Art History and Visual Arts, Panjab University. The exhibition showcased over 200 artworks of novel and exquisite pieces across various genres such as Creative Composition, Life Study, Installation, Clay Modelling, Lippan Art etc.

The creative prowess of BA-III, MA-I and MA-II Fine Arts students was evident through their excellent creations and imaginative potential as each exhibit was a visual delight. Prof. Tirthankar Bhattacharya lauded the students’ aesthetic expressions and encouraged them to harness their skills for holistic development. He appreciated the efforts of the faculty members Prof. Guneeta Chadha, Dr. Simmi Arora and Dr. O.P. Parmeshwaran and students in organizing such a captivating art exhibition.

Earlier Prof. Guneeta Chadha, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Fine Arts, introduced the theme of the exhibition and elaborated on its significance in the academic journey of Art students. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the Principal & Chief Patron of society Prof. Anita Kaushal for her constant guidance, support and encouragement.
