PGGCG-11 celebrates Basant Panchami Utsav

The Cultural Society of P.G. Government College for Girls Sector 11 Chandigarh in collaboration with Nostalgia, the Alumni association of the college celebrated the Basant Panchmi in the music department on 14.02.2024. The cultural society organized music performances by Mr. Kanwar Iqbal & Prof. Dr. Harvinder Singh. The function was started with the lighting of lamp and offering flowers to Maa Saraswati .Principal professor Dr.Anita Kaushal, Dean Mr Ajay Sharma. Vice Principal Dr. Gunita Chadha welcomed the guest artists with a bouquet. Mr. Kanwar Iqbal performed raga Basant Mukari and Thumri Chalo Hato Bhayia and Prof Harvinder Singh performed vilambit and drut khayal in raga Basant, Bahar and raga basant bahar. It was memerising musical experience.

The Performance was highly appreciated by all the listeners and the students in particular. Head of Music Instrumental department Dr. Amita Sharma thanked the guest musicians for motivating the students and sharing such precious knowledge.

PGGCG-11 organizes a Lecture cum Demonstration on Skill Development for Animation and Design Innovation in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Cell (IIC) and Chandigarh Design School

The P. G. Department of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Cell (IIC) and Chandigarh Design School, orchestrated a Lecture cum Demonstration on Skill Development for Animation and Design Innovation on the 8th of February 2024. The event took place in the multimedia hall of the P.G. Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh.  Professor (Dr.) Guneeta Chadha, Vice Principal and Head of Department of Fine Arts, who also served as the program’s coordinator, elucidated the contemporary significance of animation to the attending students and extended invitations to the guest speakers for their presentations. Approximately 90 students, comprising BA Fine Arts 1, II, III, MA-I, MA-II, BCA, and students from the Diploma in Animation program, participated in the session. Principal Professor (Dr.) Anita Kaushal underscored the growing ubiquity of animation in modern life and encouraged students to acquire this skill set for their benefit. She commended the Fine Arts department for organizing such a career-focused initiative for the students.  The discussion delved into various facets of animation production, elucidating different software tools and their applications. Furthermore, the discourse covered the subject’s scope and the constraints of the medium, complemented by relevant examples. The stage management for the event was skilfully executed by Ms. Devanshi Saini, a second-year MA student in Fine Arts and also the class representative (CR) of the Fine Arts department. Dr. O.P. Parameswaran, a member of the organizing committee along with Dr. Simmi Arora, conveyed the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the session.

PGGCG-11, Chandigarh organized the Nineth Lecture of the seminar series “Dialogue” on the topic “Environmental Ethics: A Jain Perspective”

The Department of Philosophy, PGGCG-11, Chandigarh, organized the ninth lecture of the seminar series “Dialogue”on the topic “Environmental Ethics: A Jain Perspective” at the College Campus on 29-01-2024. A total of sixty five students participated in the lecture.

 

The speaker of the nineth lecture was Ms. Anita Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy from Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla.

 

The speaker comprehensively shared her ideas on environmental ethics. She also underlined the significant question how we should value it, as it is a field of study that seeks to understand human’s moral obligations to protect and preserve the environment. She invoked the philosophy of Jainism particularly the five Maha-vratas (great vows) in protecting the environment.

 

The session was chaired by Ananya Rawat of BA I Year.

Tree Plantation Drive by NSS Volunteer

NSS volunteers at PGGCG 11 Chandigarh took the initiative to organize a tree plantation drive, focusing on the cultivation of the night-blooming jasmine, also known as Mogra. This fragrant and delicate plant, scientifically named JasminumSambac, is native to Bhutan, India, and Pakistan. It manifests as a petite shrub with a growth potential of up to 10 feet in height.

 

The volunteers chose Mogra for its sweet-scented flowers, and their efforts aimed to contribute to the local environment positively. By planting and nurturing this particular species, they not only added to the greenery of the surroundings but also enhanced the olfactory experience for the community. This tree plantation drive reflects the commitment of NSS volunteers to environmental conservation and beautification, with the added charm of the night-blooming jasmine, Mogra. Principal Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal congratulated the NSS volunteers and Program Officers for taking such initiative to enhance the ambience of the campus.

Posters on Viksit Bharatshowcased by NCC cadets

Under the guidance of Principal Prof (Dr) Anita Kaushal, the NCC Army Wing cadets of the college recently orchestrated an engaging poster-making activity focused on the theme of ‘VIKSIT Bharat’ (Prosperous India) to commemorate 75th Republic day. The event became a canvas for boundless creativity, with participants passionately translating their visions for a forward-thinking India onto paper. Each poster served as a unique window into diverse perspectives, emphasizing the significance of innovation, sustainable practices, and societal progress.

Beyond showcasing artistic talent, the activity nurtured a collective sense of responsibility among the students, reinforcing their dedication to actively contribute to the development of a VIKSIT Bharat. Madam Principal expressed her appreciation for the students’ efforts, and the event concluded with a striking display of the thought-provoking posters. These visual representations stand as a testament to the students’ commitment to a brighter and more inclusive future for our nation.

PGGCG-11 Celebrated 75th Republic Day

75th Republic Day was celebrated in Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh. Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college unfurled the National Tricolour. Mr.Ajay kumar Sharma, Dean, Prof. Guneeta Chaddha, Vice-Principal, faculty members and students attended the ceremony.

The students of Music Insturmental Department presented “Rashtriya Geeton Ka Vaadya Vrind”, a kaleidoscope of patriotic songs. The students of Music Vocal Department rendered songs that filled the atmosphere with nationalistic fervor. Speeches and poems by the students invoked the spirit of nationalism amongst all.

Addressing the students, Principal, Prof. Anita Kaushal congratulated the students and staff on this auspicious occasion. She highlighted that the Constitution of India is the longest written document of guiding principles that makes India a great Republic.

She advised the students to follow the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other nationalists to strengthen the pillars of democracy and secularism in pursuits of progress. Enumerating the glorious achievements like Chandryan-III, hosting G-20 summit and steps towards Women empowerment, she encouraged the students to work hard with utmost dedication and integrity to create a promising future for themselves, for the society and for the nation.

PGGCG-11 inaugurated 7 day night NSS Camp

7 day NSS Camp was organised in PGGCG-11 Chandigarh on Dec. 21, 2023. Prof. (Dr) Anita Kaushal was the chief guest on the occasion. During these 7 days various activities like Lecture, Workshop and Visit to the adopted village has been planned.

VIKSIT BHARAT @2047 IN PGGCG-11

Students of PGGCG-11 showed commitment towards VIKSIT BHARAT @2047 by forming a human chain.

To celebrate the spirit of Viksit Bharat, students of PGGCG-11 CHANDIGARH penned their views and portrayed their expressions.

PGGCG-11 Organizes World AIDS Day

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of PGGCG-11, Chandigarh organized a Candle Light March on the theme ‘Let Communities Lead’ in collaboration with NSS (National Service Scheme) of the college to mark the World AIDS Day in the college campus today.

More than 180 NSS and RRC volunteers participated in the march. Various activities like Nukkad Natak, Mass Rally and Candle lighting were also organized. World AIDS Day is the perfect time for us to raise much needed awareness about HIV AIDS. The students were sensitized about the progress in ending Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and progress towards attaining universal health to achieve an AIDS-free generation.

Principal Prof. (Dr) Anita Kaushal, appreciated the efforts of the organizers. Dr. Anurita Sharma, Convenor, Red Ribbon Society and Dr. Ritu Sekhri, NSS Program Officer. She encouraged the students to focus on community centric actives besides academics for holistic development.
