PGGCG-11 inaugurated 7 day night NSS Camp

7 day NSS Camp was organised in PGGCG-11 Chandigarh on Dec. 21, 2023. Prof. (Dr) Anita Kaushal was the chief guest on the occasion. During these 7 days various activities like Lecture, Workshop and Visit to the adopted village has been planned.

To celebrate the spirit of Viksit Bharat, students of PGGCG-11 CHANDIGARH penned their views and portrayed their expressions.

PGGCG-11 Organizes World AIDS Day

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of PGGCG-11, Chandigarh organized a Candle Light March on the theme ‘Let Communities Lead’ in collaboration with NSS (National Service Scheme) of the college to mark the World AIDS Day in the college campus today.

More than 180 NSS and RRC volunteers participated in the march. Various activities like Nukkad Natak, Mass Rally and Candle lighting were also organized. World AIDS Day is the perfect time for us to raise much needed awareness about HIV AIDS. The students were sensitized about the progress in ending Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and progress towards attaining universal health to achieve an AIDS-free generation.

Principal Prof. (Dr) Anita Kaushal, appreciated the efforts of the organizers. Dr. Anurita Sharma, Convenor, Red Ribbon Society and Dr. Ritu Sekhri, NSS Program Officer. She encouraged the students to focus on community centric actives besides academics for holistic development.

Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, the college in collaboration with Association of Indian French Professionals and Researchers, Pondicherry organized the First International French Accent Neutralization Workshop ‘FONETIKATHON’

Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh, the college in collaboration with Association of Indian French Professionals and Researchers, Pondicherry organizedthe First International French Accent Neutralization Workshop ‘FONETIKATHON’ on 6th November, 2023 from 9:30 a.m to 2:30 p.m at the multimedia hall. Dr.Arun Kumar Santhalingam, the master teacher trainer andPresident, AIFPROwas welcomed and introduced by Dr. Nidhi Sharma, Head, Department of French, PGGCG-11, Chandigarh.

The workshop focused on French accent neutralization and saw the participation of nearly 32 French teachers from Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana. During the session, the teachers learned about various accent reduction techniques and engaged in activities that emphasized assimilation, enhancing their skills in teaching and communicating in a neutral French accent.The session witnessed also inputs from two international experts from France: Ms Annick Hatterer from CLE International and Mr. Jack Amberg, President, Ludo-Vic SAS. Prof. (Dr) Anita Kaushal presented a token of appreciation to Dr.Arun Kumar Santhalingam and the certificates of participation were given to the participants. Prof. (Dr) Anita Kaushal also interacted with the participants and congratulated them for having successfully completed the workshop. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Nidhi Sharma and a group photograph was clicked at the end of the workshop.

PGGCG-11 and Team Nivedita organises “WORKSHOP AND BADGE CEREMONY AND INTERACTIVE MEETING”

The Nivedita team, a non-profit registered public trust, orchestrated a dynamic event encompassing a workshop, badge ceremony, and an engaging meeting on 4th of November 2023. The organization is dedicated to three pivotal missions, encapsulated by the three Ds: Dhee (daughters), Dharti (Mother Earth), and Dharohar (Heritage). The event honored and celebrated 18 Principals from various educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and a delegation from Panjab University. This esteemed group, along with their coordinators and team members, received recognition for their valuable contributions.

Commencing the proceedings was an interactive meeting that brought together the distinguished members of Sapat Sindhu, an organization fervently committed to the preservation of our rich heritage and culture, particularly in the realm of culinary practices. This session laid the foundation for a fruitful exchange of ideas and insights.

Subsequently, the event transitioned into a meeting attended by Principals, coordinators, and team members of Aahaar Kraanti. This initiative, spearheaded by the Nivedita trust, focuses on addressing food security concerns and underscores the significance of incorporating millets into our dietary practices. The gathering served as a platform for meaningful discussions and collaborative efforts toward achieving these essential goals.

PGGCG-11 kick-started the seven-day NSS Camp with an inauguration event on the 19th of October, 2023

The Post Graduate Government College for Girls, sector-11, Chandigarh, kick-started the seven-day NSS Camp with an inauguration event on the 19th of October, 2023, featuring the theme “Not me but You.” This auspicious event took place in the college auditorium.

The proceedings commenced with the symbolic lighting of the traditional lamp and the soul-stirring NSS anthem. Following this, the college Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal, extended a warm welcome to all attendees.

The chief guest for this momentous occasion was none other than Dr. ParveenGoyal, the NSS Programme Coordinator from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Goyal, in his inaugural address, underlined the significance of community service and its far-reaching impact on society. He motivated the students to actively engage in the camp and extended his heartfelt best wishes to the NSS Volunteers for the success of the camp.

Dr. RituSekhri, the NSS Program officer, then provided an overview of the meticulously planned minute-by-minute schedule of the NSS program to both the distinguished guests and the dedicated volunteers.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by other notable dignitaries, including Mr. Ajay Kumar, the Dean of the college, and Dr. SadhnaVerma, the Head of the Department of Chemistry, along with other NSS Program Officers.

SIGMA: the Math Association celebrated `Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ by organizing a lecture on the topic ‘Career Options in Higher Mathematics’

SIGMA: the Math Association celebrated `Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ by organizing a lecture on the topic ‘Career Options in Higher Mathematics’ on 7th October, 2023 by Dr. Amrit Pal Virk, Asstt. Prof., Govt. College Mohali. The event was organised for all the students of B.A., B.Sc. NM & CS to apprise them about the career options after studying Math at graduate level. The event began with the welcome and introduction of speaker by Arisha, a student of B.Sc. I (N.M.).
Best known for his intense teaching and learning methodology, Dr A.P. Singh has been a Gold Medallist in his Graduation as well as Post-Graduation and conferred with the accolades like Indian Young Scientist Award, and the Prof M. Venkataraman Best Paper Presentation Award. It was an honor to have him amongst us and the knowledge he shared with the students was really awakening for them. He not only discussed the career options but also motivated the students for higher studies in Mathematics by sharing numerous benefits of the same and even guided the students about the qualifications and steps to be followed for teach of the options available to them after graduation.
All the students participated actively in the lecture by responding to his questions and also asked various questions after the lecture. Around 150 students benefited from the lecture. The lecture was summarized by vote of thanks by Ms. Kunjan Gupta.

Post Graduate Government College for Grils, Sector 11, Chandigarh society SIGMA: The Math Association organized a Power Point presentation competition

SIGMA: the Math Association organized a Power Point presentation competition on 6th October, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in Room no. 20.
Students of B.A., B.Sc. NM & CS participated enthusiastically and gave power point presentations on interesting topics like Vedic Mathematics, Mathematicians, role of maths in different fields etc., thus embarking the importance of math not only in daily life but even in famous architectures beside science and other fields. The presentations were not only content wise brilliant but also presented excellently by the students.
The event was judged by Ms. Vinita Rao, HOD Deptt. Of Economics and Dr. Meenu Verma, HOD Deptt. Of Commerce. Around 23 teams participated in the event. The event was summarised by announcing the names of winners by Ms. Kunjan Gupta followed by vote of thanks by Mr. Vikram Kumar.

PGGCG-11 organized a Blood Donation camp in association with the NSS Unit and NOSTALGIA the Alumni Association of college

The Blood Donation Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11 Chandigarh in collaboration with Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGI, Chandigarh and Lions Club Panchkula Premier organized a Blood Donation camp in association with the NSS Unit of the college and NOSTALGIA the Alumni Association of college on 03-10-2023. Students enthusiastically gathered and registered for blood donation. Principal Prof. (Dr) Anita Kaushal was the chief guest for the occasion she motivated and applauded the donors.

A total of 217 students were registered and 108  unit of blood was collected. Each donor was accorded with a certificate, gift and refreshments. The camp received an overwhelming response from the college staff, students and ended on a successful note.
